What to Expect at Your First Flow Hockey Development Camp
Attending a hockey development camp for the first time? Whether you're joining us for a single session or a multi-day camp, we want every player to feel comfortable, confident, and excited to hit the ice!
Here's a quick look at what you can expect when you join us at Flow Hockey Development.
Before Camp: We've Got You Covered
Before each camp, we'll send out an email reminder with all the important details you need to know, including schedules and other camp-specific information.
You'll also find camp details on our website's homepage, where they'll remain available until the camp is complete.
Have questions before camp day? We're always happy to help! Reach out to us anytime at flowhockeydevelopment@gmail.com.
Arriving at the Rink
We recommend arriving a little early so players have plenty of time to get dressed, settle in, and prepare for their session.
One of our Flow Hockey staff members or coaches will be around before ice time to welcome players, answer questions, and help point everyone in the right direction. Depending on the camp, players may also receive a Flow Hockey jersey when they arrive!
Dressing room assignments can typically be found on the arena's whiteboard.
Don't forget to bring your full hockey equipment, a filled water bottle, and a positive attitude!
On the Ice: Learning, Competing & Having Fun
Our camps are designed to help players develop their skills in a positive, encouraging environment.
We have additional coaches on the ice and divide players into smaller groups to make sure everyone receives plenty of individual attention, instruction, and feedback.
Throughout each session, players can expect a combination of:
Skill development: Focused drills that build skating, puck handling, passing, shooting, and other important hockey skills.
Individual coaching: Smaller groups allow our coaches to work closely with players and help them improve their technique.
Fun, challenging drills: We bring additional training equipment onto the ice to introduce creative exercises and challenges players might not experience during regular team practices.
Game-like situations: Opportunities to apply new skills in competitive, realistic hockey scenarios.
Every camp is a little different, but our focus remains the same: helping players learn, improve, and enjoy their time on the ice.
Don't Be Afraid to Ask Questions!
One of the biggest things we encourage at Flow Hockey is curiosity.
If something doesn't make sense, ask! Our coaches are there to help, demonstrate techniques, and provide guidance throughout the session.
We don't expect players to get everything right on the first try. Development takes practice, repetition, and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone.
Take What You Learn Home With You
Our goal isn't just to help players improve during camp. We want them to leave with new skills, greater confidence, and ideas they can continue practising long after the session ends.
Most importantly, we're here to learn, work hard, and have fun!
Whether it's your first Flow Hockey camp or your fifth, we're excited to have you on the ice with us.
See you at the rink!
